Sue Fletcher is a Professor of English at New York University. She and her girlfriend, Simone Curtis, live across the hall from Eric and Joey.

Sue was a latecomer to the lesbian scene, having been married for several years to Jack Fletcher, a colleague at NYU. Since their divorce, she's managed to create a new life for herself, while her ex-husband has had some difficulty letting go (much to Simone's chagrin).

Sue is very intelligent and speaks in a stilted manner, as if to remind others of her intellectual "superiority." This has been a source of some friction between her and neighbor Eric, who's been known to label her a "know-it-all." On the whole, however, even Eric respects her listening skills and her wisdom, and values her friendship.

In her off-time, Sue is an amateur art historian, and often spends weekends touring the museums of Manhattan.
