Miguel Martinez has been dating David since they met in 1997, on a blind date arranged by Sue and Simone (Miguel was a student of Sue's in his undergrad days at NYU). The relationship clicked, thanks in no small part to Miguel's easygoing personality, and he moved in to David's apartment in the summer of 1998. They broke up briefly the following year, and Miguel lived with his friend Mother, a drag queen. After a reconciliation, he moved back to David's.

The second time around, Miguel's relationship with Matisse was also improved, although the two still have an occasional conflict. Miguel's chief source of frustration continues to be David's mother, who refuses to acknowledge the young lawyer's many positive qualities.

In his spare time, Miguel enjoys reading comic books. His collection includes nearly every issue of Captain Nucleo.

Miguel has been known to be passionate and quick-tempered, but all in all, he is basically a patient, good-humored guy.
