Martin Francis Dinkleman, Jr., is doing what he has always dreamed: setting New York on its ear with his unenlightened opinions and caustic humor, as the morning deejay at WSKK 98.7FM ("The Skunk").

As the brother-in-law of a gay-man-in-a-relationship, Marty often considers himself "the last straight man in Manhattan," but usually says exactly what's on his mind anyway.

Marty is lazy, unkempt, arrogant, and ignorant, but he must be doing something right, as his marriage to Mary Ann has lasted far longer than anyone expected. As a father, he is typically over-protective of April; however, as she grows older, he seems less concerned that she might inherit her Uncle Eric's "gay genes."
