Joey Romelli grew up in Brooklyn, and has been an officer with the New York City Police Department since 1992. He met Eric after he and his partner, Lou, discovered the young actor lying on the sidewalk, the victim of a mugging.

In the years since, Joey has made good use of his unflappable demeanor - as well as his sarcastic wit - as he's patiently endured "married" life.

Joey's tall, muscular, streetwise appearance belies the fact that he is actually quite well-read. He enjoys solving the New York Times Crossword Puzzle and cooking in his spare time. He is also a TV trivia whiz, and loves classic jazz, Ben and Jerry's ice cream, and dressing up in leather.

In addition to his younger sister, Gina, Eric has two older brothers - Vincent, who lives in Hawaii, and Anthony, who lives in Portland.

Joey's wisdom, honesty, and sense of humor make him something of a father figure, not only to Eric, but to his many other friends, neighbors, and co-workers.
