Q. Are Eric
and Joey based on real people, and if so, are they looking for a threesome?
A. No, Eric and Joey aren't based on actual people. Most of the
characters do have a little of my personality in them, naturally, and I've managed
to work in some of my friends' traits also. Very few actual people have been
drawn into the strip, though, except for some close friends who agreed to
do cameo parts.
Q. Is any of
the artwork done on a computer?
A. All of the characters, backgrounds, and shading are drawn
and inked by hand. After scanning the original, I add the title and e-mail address
to the digital art, and then color the strip in Adobe Photoshop.
Q. Have your
strips ever been collected in a book?
A. No, although I've certainly entertained the idea. Anyone interested
in being notified if a book does get published should sign up for the A
Couple of Guys Newsletter below. In the meantime, interested publishers may feel
free to contact me.
Q. How come
Eric and Joey never show up completely naked?
A. Your guess is as good as mine. Every time I look in on them,
it seems they are just getting dressed. Don't expect to see any more flesh any
time soon; now that Eric is wise to the fact that he's a character in a comic strip,
I suspect he'll be even more modest than usual.
Q. Why does
the strip take place in Manhattan?
A. No particular reason, except that it seemed like a good place
to introduce a very diverse cast of characters.
Q. How can I
read the strip if my local paper doesn't carry it?
A. The strip is available online, of course, but if you'd like
to see it in print, send a note to the Features Editor of your local
gay newspaper, and politely suggest that they run it.
