Mae is the waitress at Al's Diner. In the past, her chief duties were
to walk around with a sour expression, and pour coffee. Recently, she's
taken to commenting on the goings-on in the diner to Al, the fry cook.
Al, for his part, usually responds in monosyllabic grunts.
Although she and Al are married, Mae has expressed an infatuation for
"Officer Joey"
on more than one occasion. It's a safe bet, however, that nothing will
come of it.
